Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advanced Health Worker (Identified)
Location: Cunnamulla, Queensland
Employment Type: Fixed Term Full-Time until June 27th 2025
Salary: Base salary up to $3, 841 p.f. + super + support with accommodation and travel (if required)

Join us as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advanced Health Worker (Identified), where you’ll play a vital role in delivering respectful, culturally appropriate, and holistic care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide mental health support for clients, families, and communities throughout recovery.
- Collaborate closely with interprofessional teams to enhance culturally appropriate care.
- Advocate for and empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients with education, case management, and referrals.
- Build relationships with families, kinship systems, and local communities.
- Lead cross-cultural education and mentor others to strengthen culturally responsive practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including identification records for First Nations clients.
Requirements
- Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community.
- Appointment and future increment progression between pay points HWF3.1 to HWF3.5 requires one of the following:
- Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care
- Certificate IV in Mental Health
- Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs
- Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work
- Appointment and future increment progression between pay points HWF3.2 to HWF3.7 (or HWF3.8 for employees meeting HED 04/23 requirements) requires:
- Diploma of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care
- Diploma of Mental Health
- Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs
- Possession of a Class C driver’s license.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
- Probationary period may apply.
- Pre-employment checks, including criminal history clearance and Aged Care Pre-Employment Screening, will be conducted.
