On behalf of our client in Victoria, we are seeking a Social Worker to join the Community Health Counselling Team providing family violence outreach, general counselling, case work as well as Acute Hospital services. Providing outreach support to victims of family violence, generalist counselling and social case work for complex clients, acute social work services; discharge planning and post-acute support, liaising with providers to engage perpetrators into support networks and therapy groups.

Key Responsibilities

– Provide outreach support to victims of family violence

– Liaise with providers to engage perpetrators into support networks and therapy groups where appropriate

– Provide generalist counselling and social case work for complex clients

– Provide acute social work services, discharge planning and post-acute support

– Maintain client files and provide statistical data as required

– Participate in the case management process, as necessary, for appropriate management of complex client issues

– Participate in a professional peer support process, as part of Counselling Unit

– Where required provide supervision for staff in the completion of their roles, providing guidance and facilitating education and training

– Support staff through critical incidents response and peer support group process

– Provide counselling and welfare support to schools as required

– Provide support and resources to staff in the management of behavioural issues for their students

– Education in the community about good mental health practice, managing family violence and dealing with critical stressful incidents

– Provide development strategies to communities in ways that they can collaboratively manage issues for appropriate outcomes

– Contribute to the development of the health promotion strategy, in particular focusing on managing family violence, and mental wellbeing

– Provide an outreach counselling service to isolated communities in the region

About You

– Completed Bachelor or Masters of Social Work and eligibility for membership with the AASW

– Previous experience in a similar role within family violence

– Capacity to deal with complex stressful and violent situations where trauma may be present

– Ability to engage and refer perpetrators of violence to appropriate supports

– Good knowledge of child development and the ability to work with children

– Ability to provide community education and awareness of family violence

– Ability to facilitate regional program planning and development

– Current driver’s licence

Salary

– Excellent casual rates paying up to $65-70 per hour plus super (based on experience)
