About the Role

An excellent opportunity is available for a compassionate and motivated Enrolled Nurse to join a Mental Health Inpatient Service within a regional South Australian health setting.

This role supports the delivery of evidence-based, recovery-oriented mental health care to consumers with a range of complex needs. Working under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will contribute to safe, person-centred care while developing your clinical capability within a multidisciplinary inpatient environment.

This position will suit an Enrolled Nurse who is committed to mental health nursing, values teamwork, and is seeking to build or consolidate experience in an inpatient setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, respectful, and recovery-oriented mental health nursing care within an inpatient setting
  • Implement nursing care activities in line with consumer care plans and within scope of practice
  • Support consumer safety, risk management, and de-escalation strategies
  • Recognise and respond to clinical deterioration, escalating concerns appropriately
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support continuity of care
  • Assist Registered Nurses with coordination of care and daily unit activities
  • Support students and contribute to a positive, learning-focused team culture
  • Engage with consumers, families, carers, and external service providers in a culturally responsive manner

About You

  • Enrolled or eligible for enrolment as a Nurse with AHPRA
  • Interest or experience in mental health nursing
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work under supervision while maintaining accountability for own practice
  • Commitment to consumer-centred, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented care
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively in a dynamic environment
  • Willingness to work a 24/7 rotating roster in an inpatient setting
  • Understanding of, or willingness to develop, culturally safe practice, including working with Aboriginal consumers
  • Experience in mental health, inpatient services, or regional settings will be highly regarded.
