Inside cmr’s Healthcare Leadership Event
Cornerstone Medical Recruitment (cmr) recently welcomed healthcare leaders to its Brisbane office for an intimate leadership event exploring one of the industry’s most pressing challenges: how do we build a workforce that stays?
Held on Thursday 16 July 2026, the event featured an inspiring keynote from Dr Jana Pittman – dual Summer and Winter Olympian, author, mother of six and now doctor. Drawing on her unique experiences across elite sport and medicine, Jana shared powerful insights into resilience, navigating pressure and the role of healthcare leadership in creating environments where people can thrive.

Following the keynote, Jana was joined by Ruth Limkin, Managing Director of The Banyans Healthcare, for an engaging Q&A that explored the realities of healthcare leadership in today’s evolving healthcare landscape.
Together, they discussed the challenges facing healthcare organisations, from workforce shortages and burnout to increasing resource pressures and the emotional demands placed on healthcare professionals every day. The conversation focused on recognising the early signs of burnout, supporting wellbeing within teams and the importance of leadership that prioritises connection, trust and long-term workforce sustainability.

We believe meaningful conversations like these are essential to strengthening healthcare leadership and building a happier healthcare workforce. When leaders come together to share experiences, ask better questions and learn from one another, we create opportunities to shape a stronger future for healthcare.

A big thank you to Dr Jana Pittman, Ruth Limkin and everyone who joined us for such a thoughtful and inspiring discussion. We look forward to continuing these conversations and creating more opportunities for our healthcare community to connect, learn and explore what better can look like together.
