Opportunity

At cmr we are seeking General Practitioners to support residents across a range of aged care facilities throughout New South Wales.

This opportunity offers a combination of telehealth consultations and scheduled face-to-face visits, allowing GPs to provide ongoing, high-quality medical care to aged care residents while enjoying a structured and predictable working schedule.

We are ideally seeking Vocationally Registered (VR) GPs based in or near the regions listed below to minimise travel requirements. Doctors will generally be required to attend their allocated facilities approximately one day per month, with the remainder of their consultations conducted via telehealth.

Available Locations & Remuneration

Opportunities are available across the following NSW regions:

  • Central Coast: 2-4 days per week | $220-$250 + GST per hour
  • Newcastle: 3 days per week | $200-$220 + GST per hour
  • Condobolin to Orange: 2-3 days per week | $220-$275 + GST per hour
  • Katoomba to Kandos: 2-3 days per week | $250 + GST per hour
  • Narrandera: 2 days per week | $275 + GST per hour
  • Bomaderry to Nowra: 2 days per week | $220-$275 + GST per hour
  • Batemans Bay to Dalmeny: 3 days per week | $275 + GST per hour
  • Dubbo to Mudgee: 3 days per week | $275 + GST per hour
  • Merimbula: 1 day per week | $275 + GST per hour
  • Glen Innes: 1 day per week | $200-$220 + GST per hour

Rates and onsite attendance requirements vary by location and arrangement. Some opportunities require weekly onsite visits, while others offer a hybrid model with onsite attendance once every two to three weeks. The preferred arrangement is approximately one onsite day per month where operationally suitable; this will need to be confirmed for each site.

The Role

Working collaboratively with onsite nursing staff, you will provide ongoing medical care to aged care residents through a combination of virtual consultations and scheduled facility visits.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting telehealth consultations, with approximately 40-50 patients per day depending on the facility and workload.
  • Reviewing and contributing to health assessments and medication management plans for new resident admissions.
  • Completing annual health assessment reviews for existing residents.
  • Providing regular consultations, follow-ups and general medical reviews.
  • Managing prescriptions, reviewing results and addressing residents’ ongoing medical needs.
  • Identifying and following up on pending investigations and clinical results.
  • Conducting face-to-face visits for resident assessments, introductions and clinical reviews.
  • Completing and signing required clinical documentation and communicating with the relevant nursing staff.
  • Working collaboratively with onsite nurses and the Senior Medical Officer, who is an experienced FRACGP, for clinical guidance when required.

Remuneration & Benefits

  • Competitive hourly remuneration, ranging from $200 to $275 + GST per hour, depending on the location and service arrangement.
  • 100% bulk-billed consultations, with the GP remunerated at an agreed hourly rate.
  • Structured, recurring weekly work.
  • A combination of telehealth and face-to-face consultations.
  • Established clinical workflows and support from onsite nursing staff.
  • No after-hours or on-call commitments.
  • Opportunities to provide meaningful continuity of care to aged care residents.

About You

To be considered, you will ideally have:

  • Vocational Registration (VR) with the ability to practise independently, including doctors with unrestricted registration or restricted registration under the moratorium.
  • Experience or an interest in aged care, residential medicine or providing care to older patients.
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication and documentation skills.
  • Confidence conducting consultations via telehealth.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals.
  • Availability for regular weekly sessions.
  • A location within reasonable travelling distance of your allocated facilities, with a willingness to attend onsite visits as required.
