Registered Nurse – General Medical & Surgical | Hunter New England LHD (Multiple Sites)
Start: August onwards
We are currently seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join a range of vibrant and supportive hospitals across the Hunter New England Local Health District.
These contracts offer the chance to work across diverse clinical settings while exploring some of NSW’s most scenic regional locations.
Locations & Hospital Highlights
Armidale
A picturesque university town in the New England High Country, known for its heritage streets, cool climate, and strong clinical team culture.
- Regional hospital with medical and surgical wards, paediatrics, and busy acute presentations
- Close access to national parks, waterfalls, and wine country
Tamworth
A thriving regional hub with a strong community feel and excellent hospital infrastructure.
- Large regional hospital with broad medical and surgical services, ICU/HDU support, and specialty units
- Known for its energetic events calendar and strong lifestyle appeal
Manning Base Hospital
Located in the Manning Valley, combining coastal living with rural practice.
- Busy regional hospital servicing acute and chronic medical/surgical presentations
- Access to coastal communities, national parks, and relaxed lifestyle living

- Maitland Hospital – modern tertiary-adjacent regional hospital with growing services
- John Hunter Hospital – major tertiary referral hospital with complex acute and specialty care
- Inverell Hospital – rural hospital with strong generalist nursing exposure
- Gunnedah Hospital – community-focused hospital with broad medical/surgical scope
- Singleton Hospital – supportive regional hospital with steady inpatient and acute flow
- Moree District Hospital – rural and remote practice with diverse clinical presentations
Skills & Experience Required
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Strong experience in general, medical and/or surgical nursing (acute ward settings)
- Confident in clinical decision-making in a regional/rural environment
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
- Strong communication and adaptability across varied caseloads
- ALS desirable (not essential for all sites)
- Rural and remote experience highly regarded
