Doing our FareShare

By Juleen Perry| Published 4 December 2019

Each year Cornerstone chooses a charity to support at Christmas. This year the Cornerstone team volunteered at FareShare and cooked meals for people doing it tough after the recent bushfires.

The Cornerstone team enjoyed volunteering at FareShare.

FareShare rescues food that would otherwise go to waste and turns it into free nutritious meals for people in need.

Cornerstone team members chopped over 90 kilos of carrots, 60 kilos of celery, cooked 25 kilos of rice and made 300 litres of beef stroganoff.

Originating in Melbourne, FareShare opened it’s production kitchen in Brisbane in December 2018 as part of a collaboration with Foodbank.

In total, the Cornerstone team cooked 1,830 meals which were then delivered to elderly residents devastated by the recent bushfires in Yeppoon.

“It was wonderful to be able to give back to a community so clearly in need at this time of year” said Chief Operating Officer Norbert Miklos.
