This week, our friend and It Takes Heart Season 1 podcast guest, Dr. Dinesh Palipana, made history—again.

In a world-first achievement, Dinesh became the first person with quadriplegia to climb Brisbane’s iconic Story Bridge. With every meter climbed, he pushed the boundaries of what’s considered possible—not just for himself, but for every person living with disability.

For those who’ve followed Dinesh’s journey, this milestone is yet another chapter in an already remarkable story. From surviving a devastating accident that left him a quadriplegic, to becoming Queensland’s first medical intern with a spinal cord injury, and now serving as a respected doctor, researcher, and advocate—Dinesh continues to inspire on every front.

Speaking about the climb, Dinesh shared this with us:

“I think by showcasing activities like this, society can see what people with disability are capable of. If someone can climb a bridge, what is stopping someone from accessing education or employment?”
