- Salary up to $120K + super, based on experience
- Flexible permanent full-time or part-time hours, Monday to Friday
- Supportive multidisciplinary team with peer support workers
Are you looking for a role where no two days are the same, where you can make a genuine difference in people’s lives and support a diverse range of mental health presentations?
We’re seeking an experienced Mental Health Clinician to join a community-based, walk-in mental health service in the Wide Bay region of Queensland. This is an opportunity to work within a collaborative multidisciplinary team, delivering practical, therapeutic support to people when they need it most. With flexible permanent full-time or part-time options, this role offers the opportunity to find a working arrangement that suits your lifestyle while doing work that matters.
About the role
Working within a community-based walk-in clinic, you’ll support people experiencing a broad range of mental health concerns, from general mental health challenges through to more complex presentations.
You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team and peer support workers, helping clients access timely, appropriate and person-centred care.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Completing mental health assessments and identifying individual needs.
- Delivering short-term, evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
- Providing talk-based therapies to support positive mental health outcomes.
- Managing a varied caseload, including clients with complex presentations.
- Developing appropriate support plans and referral pathways.
- Working collaboratively with clinicians and peer support workers.
- Supporting clients who may engage with the service for approximately three to six months.
About you
You’ll be a compassionate, confident clinician who enjoys working in a community setting and can adapt to a varied caseload. You’re comfortable working autonomously while contributing to a supportive multidisciplinary team.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- A recognised qualification in Social Work with eligibility for AASW membership, or a Psychology qualification with current AHPRA registration.
- Strong experience in mental health services, supporting a diverse range of presentations.
- Demonstrated experience delivering therapeutic interventions, particularly talk-based therapies.
- Experience using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
- Strong assessment, clinical reasoning and risk management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- A collaborative approach and a genuine commitment to person-centred care.
Experience delivering talk-based therapies is particularly important for this position. We’re looking for clinicians who can confidently engage clients and deliver meaningful therapeutic support, rather than solely providing assessment and referral services.
What’s on offer?
- Salary up to $120,000 + super, depending on experience.
- Permanent full-time or part-time opportunities.
- Monday to Friday working arrangements.
- A varied and rewarding caseload in a community-based setting.
- The opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team alongside peer support workers.
- The chance to make a tangible difference in people’s lives through accessible, timely mental health care.
- Annual professional development opportunities for full-time clinicians.
