cmr has partnered with a leading health service to engange an experienced Men’s Counsellor for the following full time permanant or 12-month contract, based in the East Arnhem reigon.
About the Role
As the Men’s Counsellor, you will provide therapeutic support through individual, family and group counselling. Referrals may involve short-term or ongoing engagement, with each person’s choice and readiness for counselling always respected.
This role is best suited to a Counsellor with expeirence working in remote Aboriginal communities.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide culturally safe counselling to men, young men and boys.
- Respond to referrals for individual, family and group therapeutic support.
- Build respectful therapeutic relationships based on trust and collaboration.
- Facilitate men’s wellbeing groups addressing issues such as: violence and anger, coercive control, alcohol and other drugs, accountability for harmful behaviour, respectful relationships and positive pathways for healing
- Support clients to strengthen family, community and cultural support networks.
- Assist clients to navigate services and advocate for their goals and preferences.
- Maintain accurate, confidential and respectful client records.

About You
- Tertiary qualification in Counselling or a related human services discipline.
- Current registration, or eligibility for registration, with a recognised professional body.
- National Criminal History Check.
- Experience working in a remote Aboriginal community.
- Understanding of Aboriginal Community Control, self-determination and culturally safe practice.
- Understanding of Social and Emotional Wellbeing, colonisation and intergenerational trauma.
