Mental Health Clinician – Acute Care Team | North West Queensland

We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Clinician for a short-term locum contract to join the Acute Care Team in North West Queensland. This role offers the opportunity to provide specialist acute mental health services to individuals and families experiencing moderate to severe mental health concerns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake, triage, and comprehensive mental health assessments.
  • Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions and treatment.
  • Provide case management and care coordination to ensure continuity of care.
  • Engage with families and supports to promote recovery and wellbeing.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation; familiarity with CIMHA is desirable.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team culture in a regional healthcare setting.
  • Participate in a rotating roster, with opportunities for evening and weekend penalty rates.

About You

You are a qualified and compassionate Mental Health Clinician committed to acute mental health care. You thrive in regional environments, demonstrating adaptability, initiative, and strong clinical expertise.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualified social worker or psychologist with membership or eligibility for relevant associations (e.g., AASW, AHPRA).
  • Experience in acute mental health services, including assessment, triage, and case management.
  • Ability to deliver therapeutic interventions to individuals and families.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to engage effectively with families and multidisciplinary teams.
