What Is a GP VMO?
A GP VMO (General Practitioner Visiting Medical Officer) provides both community-based GP services and hospital care, often in Emergency or Acute settings. Depending on the location, you might work entirely in a hospital or divide your time between hospital shifts and general practice.
These roles are especially common in regional and remote areas, where medical professionals are valued not just for their clinical skills, but for their contribution to the community.
What Does the Job Actually Look Like?
Every placement is different and that’s part of the appeal. You might be stabilising patients in ED one day and treating long-time community members in a local clinic the next. With cmr’s support, you’ll be matched to the right level of rural exposure based on your experience and goals.
