What’s Your Body Trying to Tell You? A Women’s Health Conversation with Dr Anthea Todd

By Monique Missak| Published 19 September 2025

What if bloating, dry skin or relentless fatigue weren’t just annoying symptoms to fix, but messages from your body asking you to listen more closely?

In this two-part Episode 28 of It Takes Heart, Sam and Kate sit down with Dr Anthea Todd, women’s health expert, chiropractor, and best-selling author of What’s My Body Telling Me, to explore the space between: that frustrating grey area where everything looks “normal” on paper, but you still don’t feel well.

With dual Master’s degrees in Women’s Health and Reproductive Medicine, Anthea blends science, functional care, and energetic wisdom into what she calls the Fundamentals Framework: a practical approach that centres on what every cell in your body truly needs.

“Your cells need four things: a regulated nervous system, balanced metabolism, proper nutrients and stable blood sugars. That’s it. If you focus on those, the rest falls into place.”

In Part One, Anthea challenges the idea that symptoms are meant to be suppressed or ignored. Instead, she explains why even something as simple as dry skin might be your body whispering for help.

“We’ve been conditioned to run from discomfort. But what if, instead, we got curious?”

In Part Two, she shows us how to apply that curiosity. From the importance of morning sunlight to how walking like a lioness can actually rewire your nervous system, it’s a masterclass in practical women’s health.

“If you’re going to jump out of bed and feel amazing, people think something must be wrong with you. But actually, that’s what normal should feel like.”

Anthea also dives into the science behind hair testing, a tool she uses to assess nutrient patterns and chronic stress.

“Your hair is like a record of the last three months. It can reveal the patterns your blood test might miss.”

And for healthcare professionals, her Practitioner Training Program is an invitation to support female clients through a more holistic, integrative lens. Nurses, midwives, and GPs are already finding new meaning in their work through the Fundamentals Framework.

“If your test results are fine but you still feel awful, it doesn’t mean nothing is wrong. It just means you haven’t found the right person to ask the right questions.”
