Clinical Nurse Specialist (Aged Care)

Full-Time Permanent Position – Relocate to Hervey Bay, QLD
Up to $120,000 + Salary Packaging

Are you an experienced Clinical Nurse looking to take the next step in your leadership career?

We are seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to provide clinical leadership, support quality care outcomes, and drive best-practice clinical governance within a residential aged care environment. Working closely with the Director of Care, you will mentor clinical teams, support complex resident care needs, and contribute to continuous quality improvement and accreditation readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and support to Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Personal Care Workers.
  • Oversee resident assessments, care planning, clinical documentation and reviews.
  • Support compliance with the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards and legislative requirements.
  • Monitor clinical indicators, incidents, audits and quality improvement activities.
  • Lead infection prevention and control initiatives, including outbreak management.
  • Support safe medication management and investigate clinical incidents where required.
  • Assist with staff development, coaching and performance management processes.
  • Promote best-practice palliative and end-of-life care.
  • Participate in a rostered on-call arrangement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Nursing and current unrestricted AHPRA registration.
  • Previous experience in aged care.
  • Experience in a clinical leadership role (RN2 level or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of clinical governance, care planning and aged care compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of the AN-ACC funding model.

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Aged Care, Gerontology or Clinical Leadership.
  • Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Lead or Champion experience.
  • Experience supporting accreditation and quality improvement activities.
